The Olympics are upon us once again. Over the years, it's been fairly unpredictable as to how we'll perform. Will there be a bag full of medals, or will we return empty handed? We caught up with Britain's hopefulls to discuss their chances...

At the Athens Olympics in 2004, Great Britain finished with... 9 gold medals, 9 silver and 12 bronze. Can we improve on that this year?

CHRIS HOY - CYCLING
Lives: Salford, Age: 32
Chances of a medal? Good. Chris took the Team Sprint silver medal at Sydney 2000. He followed this up with a gold medal for the 1km time trial in Athens 2004.

TOM DALEY - DIVING

: Plymouth, Age: 14
Chances of a medal? At just 14 years of age, Daley will be Team GB's youngest Olympic competitor since 1960. He's the current BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year and he won silver at the 2007 Youth Olympics so he could be in with a shout.

ANDY MURRAY - TENNIS
Lives: London, Age: 21
Chances of a medal? Good. Murray recently won his first Masters tournament in Cincinnati overcoming world number three Novak Djokovic in the final. The British number one will compete in both the singles and, alongside his brother Jamie in the doubles for the team in Bejing.

PHILLIPS IDOWU - TRIPLE JUMP
Lives: London, Age: 30
Chances of a medal? Phillips won Gold at the Commonwealth Games in 2006 and is currently in red hot form.

HELEN TUCKER - TRIATHLON
Lives: Wales, Age: 24
Chances of a medal? Excellent. Helen is the current 2008 Triathlon World Champion following an excellent tactical race in Vancouver.

BETH TWEDDLE - GYMNASTICS
Lives: Cheshire, Age: 23
Chances of a medal? Excellent. Beth is the most successful British gymnast of all time. She goes into her event, the asymmetric bars as one of the red hot favourites. Beth became European champion in 2006.

CAMPBELL WALSH - KAYAKING
Lives: Nottingham, Age: 30
Chances of a medal? Former world number one Walsh took home silver from the Athens games four years ago and aims to go one better this year. He won the European Championships in May and the Scot says he is driven to win Gold in Bejing.

KELLY SOTHERTON - HEPTATHLON
Lives: Birmingham, Age: 31
Chances of a medal? Kelly won Olympic bronze in Athens in 2004. This year though, Kelly is hoping for a gold medal. "It's not like I've got to beat everyone else. Everyone else has got to beat me."

ALLISON WILLIAMSON - ARCHERY
Lives: Wolverhampton, Age: 37
Chances of a medal? Good as Alison took Bronze at the Olympics in Athens in 2004 after a dramatic match which went down to the last arrow. Alison has never finished outside the top ten in her four Olympic games.

CHRIS NEWTON - CYCLING
Lives: Oldham, Age: 35
Chances of a medal? Good, Chris won a silver medal at Athens 2004 and a bronze at Sydney 2000. He also holds a host of medals at World Championship level. More than capable of going one better this time around.
